The Community Police Academy is free for adults of any age and background who live or work within the city limits of New Hope, Crystal and Robbinsdale. Attendees will learn through classroom presentations and hands on experiences in multiple areas including investigations, K-9 demonstrations, patrol tactics and traffic stops. Participants will tour Hennepin County dispatch and participate in scenarios based on the information presented.
The Community Police Academy is run by members of the New Hope, Crystal and Robbinsdale Police Departments and the academy will rotate between the three departments.
The no-cost classes are held each fall and run seven weeks, starting in September. Space is limited and participants must commit to attend all seven classes. NOTE: A brief background check is conducted on all applicants.
